Turkey Burgers the Whole Family Will Love
Deliciously Healthy: Turkey Burgers the Whole Family Will Crave

I started looking for ways to cut back on red meat. Though red meat is high in protein, which our body needs to build muscle, it has more negative effects on your health and the environment than it’s worth.
Finding alternatives is a challenge if you’re like me and have a family of teens who love a juicy hamburger. Check out my blog of plant-based hamburgers coming soon)
Swapping turkey for red meat can be one of those small changes that your family will thank you for later. When I asked my boys what their favourite healthy meals that I make for them-they quickly responded turkey burgers.
This is a great option if you are not quite ready to go vegan, substituting a healthy option can start you on your way to living a healthy life.
Why red meat is not the best option for you or your family:
What’s considered red meat?
According to the Cleveland Clinic:
“Meats are categorized as either white or red based on the amount of myoglobin found in an animal’s muscles,” Zumpano explains. “Myoglobin is a protein found in meat that produces a red color when it’s exposed to oxygen.”
Red meat, then, is the muscle meat of mammals. This category includes:
- Beef.
- Pork.
- Veal.
- Lamb.
- Mutton.
- Goat.
A related category is processed meats: Meat that’s been preserved by smoking, curing, salting or adding chemical preservatives, like:
- Bacon.
- Hot dogs.
- Lunchmeat (ham, salami, bologna, pepperoni, etc.). (these are exceptionally bad for consumption as they have found links to carcinogens
- Sausage.
- Smoked meats.
It’s ok to start small. I have been helping people learn how to be healthy. Mind-Body-Spirit and one of the best tips I can share is START SMALL.
When my clients want to change everything all at once, they tend to have many more stops and starts sustaining a healthy lifestyle starting with making small adjustments and over time it will become a way of life. So what better way to start small than swap out red meat for a healthy option?
